Tips to Help Regulate Your Blood Sugar

Regardless of what eating style you follow or what your body is going through, unstable blood sugar levels often worsen symptoms and can cause continued health issues.

If blood sugar is unregulated and unstable, over time it can cause a depletion in our body’s nutrients, negatively affect the gut, increase stress on our body, and affect our hormonal responses.

So, here are some top tips for regulating blood sugar from Registered Dietitian Nicole Legler: 


1. Don’t Skip Meals or Snacks

Make sure you stick to a consistent fueling routine, eating meals and snacks around the same time each day. 

Spread out your carbohydrate intake evenly through the day to keep your blood sugar stable. 


2. Have Balanced Meals

Create your plate by filling ½ of it with non starchy vegetables and a serving of fruit, ¼ with lean protein and ¼ with whole grains or

starchy vegetables such as potatoes. Also, add in healthy fats such as nuts and nut butter, seeds, avocado, or olive oil.


3. Snack Smartly

Make sure your snacks contain both a carbohydrate, ideally from a fruit or vegetable, and a protein.

This will help keep your blood sugar stable and keep you satisfied between meals.

4. Fuel with Fiber
